Fresh Comfort Food Restaurants in Chattanooga

Comfort FOOD made Farm Fresh Southern Style

Do the winter blues have you craving some fresh comfort food? Then you’ve come to the right place. Keep reading for three restaurants in Chattanooga that specialize in serving comfort food made from the freshest ingredients. There are many great places to choose from so I’ll cover more at a later date. These will get you started on your fresh comfort food journey.

Tupelo Honey

Tupelo Honey is a small chain that originated in North Carolina and now has restaurants countrywide. Their focus on farm fresh ingredients and refining the southern cuisine allow for a seasonal menu with plenty of variety. Homemade buttermilk biscuits with fresh blueberry jam and honey greet you at your table. Their entrees are all fantastic and bursting with flavor. See pictured above the “Farm Fresh Burger” with mashed potatoes where you can taste the high quality. Also see the “Picnic Chicken Salad” with their “Baked Mac & Cheese.” The chicken salad boasts flavors of sweet and savory as well as cool and spicy creating an all inclusive party in your mouth. It features pulled chicken in a smoked, jalapeño barbecue sauce, topped with lettuce and tomato and served on a slightly sweet, nutty bread. I’ve been here only a couple times and everything I’ve tried has been satisfactory. I’m looking forward to going again and trying more of their delectable menu.

Daily Ration

The Daily Ration is a local restaurant that took over the an old, abandoned gas station. Although that may not sound inviting, trust me, the atmosphere of this place is cozy, rustic, warm, and definitely inviting. Serving only brunch on the weekends and breakfast and lunch on the weekdays, you’ll need to plan a time to stop in and try this place. My friend and I visited for brunch one Saturday and she tried the “Flapjacks” which are served with their bourbon maple syrup. I tried the “Breakfast Plate” which showcased the best home fries I have ever had. Seriously, most home fries are dry and only have lackluster seasoning. These are not dry at all and very well seasoned. The pancakes and my biscuit were very light and fluffy, not dense. I have only visited for brunch so far, but I loved it and can’t wait to try it again for lunch one day.

The Feed

The Feed is located in the old Chattanooga Seed-Feed Supply Company’s store. They preserved a lot of the original store and combined it with their vision of a farm fresh, southern-styled restaurant. Pictured above is an order of their “Sloppy Joe with Extra Sloppy” which is full of farm fresh, beef flavor. I chose to try the “The Motherclucker” which did not disappoint. It’s a huge, lightly-breaded, fried chicken breast with local hot sauce and mayo, house-made pickles, and served on a local bakery’s bun. I paired this with their “Whiskey Carrots” which are tender, not mushy, and full of fresh carrot flavor. Prior to the meal they serve a rosemary bread with an herb butter that is so delicious you can’t stop eating it. I can’t wait to go back again and try some of their other flavorful dishes.

If you’re looking for fresh comfort food full of flavor, you need to visit each of these restaurants. As I said before, this is just merely scratching the surface of the fresh comfort food that Chattanooga has to offer. Stick around and I’ll share more later on. Until then, I’ll see you around Exploring Chatt.

Sharing this post helps me make more of these Chattanooga area resources. Thanks for your support!
