Best Nighttime Views in Chattanooga

Chattanooga nighttime views from the mountains are something everyone needs to experience at least once in their lifetime.

With warmer nights just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to enjoy Chattanooga’s nighttime views. Cool air and crickets chirping really add to the experience. Keep reading to learn more about where to see these mountain top views.

Signal Mountain Brow

I’ve shared this location before as one of the best mountain views of the city below. Not only does this spot offer one of the best views during the day, it’s also just as special at night. Don’t just take my word for it, let the pictures do the talking. Although, these pictures don’t capture the surreal feeling you get in person when you experience this for yourself.

When you plan your drive to this spot on Signal Mountain, keep in mind that it closes at 10pm. Please be respectful as this is a residential road with houses very close by. Also note that there’s room for only 3 cars at the pull-off on this road.

Lookout Mountain

This view is right beside the Lookout Mountain station for the Incline. There’s a large lot with only a few trees allowing you a good view. The property is closed to the public so do not go down into it. I like to stand on top of the wall that separates the property from the public sidewalk for the best vantage point. When I moved here eight years ago, this was one of my favorite spots to admire the twinkling lights below.

There’s plenty of street parking here. Again, this is a residential area so please be quiet and respectful. One time, when I visited this spot, I got to observe a raccoon raiding the trash can beside the Incline. It was quite humorous to watch. You never know what you might see up here.

Scenic Overlook of Sequatchie Valley

This overlook is featured in my post about Chattanooga sunsets that are worth the drive. I encourage you to stay past sunset to enjoy the lights of Sequatchie Valley. This overlook serves as a more honorable mention. The valley is not as lit up as Chattanooga because this only overlooks the small town of Dunlap, TN. It’s still a peaceful and quiet view where you can see more stars overhead than you can closer to downtown Chattanooga. For example, see the shooting star captured from this spot in the photo below.

This overlook doesn’t close as it’s a scenic overlook on Highway 111. There’s plenty of parking and you can stay as long as you’d like. Keep in mind though, this is in the Central time zone which is one hour behind Chattanooga’s Eastern time.

In Closing

When I moved here, this was and still is, one of my favorite things to do. There’s just something awe-inspiring about peering down at all the dots of lights throughout the valleys. It creates a comforting feeling in a way. A reminder of how small we are on this earth and yet God still cares for us and gives us all this beauty to enjoy.

What about you? Have you been able to experience this yet? Let me know in the comments below what you think about it. Watch this video to see what it’s like driving up Lookout Mountain and enjoying the nighttime views from there. Until next time, enjoy exploring Chatt!
