US Ghost Adventures
US Ghost Adventures offers spooky experiences across the US. With over 100 cities offering their adventures, you’re bound to find one near you. Whether you’re looking for a thrilling ghost hunt or just looking for some casual, spooky history, US Ghost Adventures has you covered. Most tours are family-friendly, with pricing for adults and kids, with children under 6 years of age being free. In Chattanooga, they offer the Chattanooga Ghost Tour, which is family-friendly. I recently had the opportunity to try this US Ghost Adventure in Chattanooga and it did not disappoint.

What to Expect
Chattanooga’s haunted history is full of dark stories. From the Civil War to the Trail of Tears to the wealthy businessmen who settled in the area, Chattanooga has a tortured past. And with US Ghost Adventures, you can learn all about the stories of old, passed down from generation to generation. This isn’t a “gotcha” kind of scary tour. This is a historical tour of Chattanooga with consideration for the paranormal activity that lies within.
Prepare for Your Tour
The US Ghost Adventure Chattanooga Tour lasts for 1 hour with an extended 30 minute tour option also available for purchase. Unfortunately, the extended tour is unavailable until the Walnut Street Bridge reopens.
The normal tour includes roughly 1 mile of walking with a few inclines throughout, equating to 5 flights of stairs. I suggest wearing appropriate clothing for the weather and good walking shoes. You may also want to bring along a water bottle in case you get thirsty while walking. The tour stops at various locations along the way where stories are shared based on that particular location.
When you book your tour, there are add-on options you can choose as well. Such as renting an EMF activity detector to hunt for ghosts during your tour or a little ghost plush which you can take home with you.

The Chattanooga Tour
Without giving too much away, Chattanooga has a lot of history and paranormal activity. The paranormal activity is due to the Tennessee River being used for rituals, all the railroad tracks carrying energy, and the limestone that is prevalent in the area which is known to be a strong absorber of energy, perfect for thriving supernatural activity.
The tour starts at the Ed Johnson Memorial, just beside the Walnut Street Bridge at the end of Walnut Street. From here you’ll learn about the infamous Reed Hotel with its haunting history of being a civil war hospital before becoming a hotel where the famous murder of Annalisa Netherly happened in Room 311. To this day, there are various stories of hauntings within the hotel that you can book a room in.
Next you’ll walk across the Holmberg Bridge. It used to be made of glass panels but has since been upgraded to stainless steel panels because the glass was just not ideal for longevity. On the other side of the bridge is the Hunter Art Museum which used to be the mansion of a wealthy businessman who passed away shortly after it was finished being built. Due to this and other unfortunate events at this location, ghosts have been spotted here.

From the Hunter Art Museum, you’ll walk down to street level and walk along Riverfront Parkway. There will be stops along the way as you learn about the ghostly stories from the Chickamauga Battlefield, Hales Bar Dam, and more. Even though these locations are not downtown, they are still local to the area and packed full of haunting history.
Once you reach the far side of the aquarium on Chestnut Street, you’ll go up the block to walk in front of the aquarium. On the other side is The Passage. This is where you’ll hear the sad history of the Trail of Tears.

If you purchased the extended tour, you would continue to circle back around to the start and continue your tour over the Walnut Street Bridge and explore the chilling stories of the parks on the other side of the river. However, you cannot get to these parks until the Walnut Street Bridge is reopened. However, our tour guide told us that he still offers the extended tour, just not in the usual way since you can’t take the bridge over.
My Experience on the Chattanooga Ghost Tour
Adam and I enjoyed this tour one Friday evening. The weather was perfect and walking around downtown Chattanooga at dusk was also enjoyable. It was just us on the tour, although a larger tour group is possible. Our tour guide Jacob did an excellent job of sharing the haunting history of Chattanooga.

We also had an EMF activity detector which picked up a little bit of something near the bottom of the Walnut Street Bridge, a location where lynchings have been known to have taken place decades ago. Other than that, we didn’t see much activity. For picture purposes, we held the detector up to a cell phone to demonstrate what it would look like if there’s high activity in the area versus no activity.

Even though the tour involves a lot of walking, there are lots of stops along the way. Most of the time that you’re being told a story, you’re standing or can sit in that location, so you can easily take a break if needed. We enjoyed the tour and learning about some of the dark past of Chattanooga. Try the Chattanooga Ghost Tour yourself and use my code: CHATT10 for 10% off!
