Local Chattanooga Food: An Introductory

Hungry for Some Good FOOD?

Good local food. That’s what I’m always on the lookout for wherever I go. We all need food in order to live so why not make it good, right? Here are three good, local restaurants to get you started on your Chattanooga food exploration.

Boathouse

If you’re a fan of wood fire grilled seafood, then this is the place for you. Best known for their raw oyster bar, Boathouse is a go-to destination for anything seafood, and not. Seated on the edge of the Tennessee River, the food and views go unmatched. I especially love their chips and guacamole that’s so fresh and really isn’t guacamole at all. It’s chopped avocado, onions and tomatoes with cilantro and jalapeños. Not a fan of seafood? Whether you try the Smoked Brisket Nachos or one of their many varieties of salads, you’re sure to find something you love.

Sofa King Juicy Burger

If you love a good ol’ burger and fries, then Sofa King Juicy Burger is a great pick. Located in Red Bank close to downtown, you’ll find a unique twist to this standard American cuisine staple food. Try the Awesome Burger, a delicious concoction of Strawberry Jam and Boursin Cheese added to your traditional burger with lettuce and tomato. This sweet and creamy pair balances well with the savory saltiness of the burger for a flavor your tongue will love. Their side dishes are as equally awesome, especially any of the items starred to be prepared using their pancake batter from their sister restaurant, Aretha Frankenstein’s. I will touch more on this restaurant at a later date.

Unfortunately this restaurant has closed down. Check out the Food category on this blog for more restaurant options that I love too.

Edley’s Bar-B-Que

If barbeque is your thing, you’ve got to try Edley’s. Located at the end of Signal Mill on Northshore, this place is serving up southern staple sides and smoky barbeque with a special flare. Everything has a little kick of heat to it and the flavors are phenomenal. I love the Pork Tacos. They are spicy barbeque pork topped with cheese, pico de gallo, cilantro, slaw and tabasco onion straws. The sauce on the barbeque brings some heat while the pico and slaw cool it down to the right temperature. The banana pudding is amazing as well with a rich, cheescake-like flavor. For a tasty, unique barbeque experience, you’ve got to try this place.

I hope this list whets your appetite for some good local Chattanooga food. It’s about time for me to go grab lunch now myself. In the meantime, let me know in the comments below what type of restaurants you would like me to explore next. Until next time, I’ll see you Exploring Chatt!
