It’s almost that time of year again. The time when the leaves peak in yellow, orange, and red hues. Chattanooga fall colors last for about two weeks. So make the most of this short time by visiting these local parks before the colors fade away.
Enterprise South Nature Park
First on the list is Enterprise South. This park is a popular go-to when it comes to seeing Chattanooga fall colors. The park is a nature preserve for various types of trees, making it the perfect place to see numerous fall colors. The park is full of mountain biking trails, hiking trails, and even paved roads. Booker T. Washington State Park
Booker T. Washington is a less trafficked park which makes it perfect for enjoying Chattanooga fall colors in peace. There’s 9 miles of hiking trails which are all fairly low elevation. Water views and plenty of fall foliage can be experienced here. Due to it not being very popular, this is one of the best places you can visit, this close to Chattanooga. Stone Door State Natural Area
This one is not as close to Chattanooga as the others, but it’s definitely worth the drive. Besides, what’s a better way to experience Chattanooga fall colors than to add a scenic fall drive to it as well? Stone Door is about an hour and a half drive from Chattanooga. The park also has campgrounds if you want to make a weekend of it. Hiking to Stone Door itself is fairly easy and a short 1 mile trek. Along the way are a few overlooks where you can enjoy beautiful fall colors in the valleys below. To learn more about Stone Door State Natural Area, click HERE.
Prentice Cooper State Forest Park
Prentice Cooper is over 25,000 acres of wilderness. Included inside the park is Snooper’s Rock which is a popular Chattanooga overlook. With the full views from Snooper’s Rock and 35 miles of hiking trails throughout the park, you can really enjoy Chattanooga fall colors here. Not to mention, the drive on the gravel roads in the park. This is another place with a good, scenic fall drive. Just be aware that the park is closed to the public during hunting times. North Chickamauga Creek Gorge
What’s better than a walk alongside a roaring creek with fall foliage hanging overhead? Not much! That’s what makes North Chickamauga a great Chattanooga fall colors destination.
