Chattanooga Coffee Shops are plentiful and each one has a unique place in this community.
Do you need a cup of joe to help wake you up in the morning? Or maybe you’re like me and just utilize the liquid gold for an afternoon-pick-me-up. No matter what your habits are, let’s admit, coffee is an important part of the day to many of us. Allow me to introduce you to some of the best coffee shops Chattanooga has to offer. This is not a complete list as Chattanooga has many local favorites which I will cover at a later date. But this list should hold you over for your morning, noon, and evening coffee breaks.
Milk & Honey
If you love supporting and purchasing locally sourced foods, then Milk & Honey is the coffee shop for you. This hipster shop is located near the crossroads of Market Street and Cherokee Boulevard, part of the Northshore community, in downtown Chattanooga. Since it is in a shopping center, free parking is a plus and it’s the perfect location if you’re walking down Cherokee Boulevard on the Northshore. If you’re looking to try some unique coffee drink flavors and pastries such as an Almond Joy Latte or an Earl Grey Scone, they’ve got you covered. They also offer great breakfast (they make their own biscuits) and lunch items made with local ingredients. Whatever you choose to try, it will surely hit the spot.
Rembrandts
Looking for a more traditional style coffee shop? Try Rembrandts, located in the beautiful Bluff View Art District. This area is located just above the Tennessee River’s edge at the end of High Street in downtown Chattanooga. The traditional architecture of the district adds to the experience of this coffee shop, giving the shop and surrounding places a traditional, European feel. They roast their own coffee at the other end of the bluff and offer unique and seasonal flavored roasts such as Snickerdoodle, Southern Pecan, and my favorite Chocolate Cherry Cordial (only available in the month of February). If the weather is nice, you can sit outside on the beautiful terrace surrounded by trees and vines. Again, free parking is a huge plus for this location
Mean Mug
Do you prefer homemade vegan goodness with your coffee? Then you need to try Mean Mug. They have two locations, the first being near Southside, on Main Street. They have limited free parking on the backside of the building in a gravel parking lot with a larger paid parking lot next to it. Their second and newest location is on Manufacturers Road on the Northshore, located in an old factory re-purposed to house shops and restaurants. Homemade yogurt and quiches (vegan or non-vegan), muffins (also vegan or non-vegan), and Cinnamon Rolls (that always sell out) are just a few goodies they offer. And, they roast their own coffee, what’s not to love about that?
Stone Cup
Downtown houses most of the local coffee shops, but this one in particular comes with a view. Sitting on the North Shore with upstairs views of the Walking Bridge, this shop has a little something for everyone. Whether you’re here for an espresso drink or a smoothie, Stone Cup has got you covered. There’s limited free parking in the back or you can pay to park in the parking lot for Coolidge Park.
Velo
Located on Main Street right next to the railroad tracks is a small front that houses a coffee shop, roasting facility, and store merchandise all in one little package. They even bottle their own cold brew concoctions so you can enjoy them at home. There’s limited sugary syrups here, so you can enjoy the coffee and goodness. If you’re a coffee purist, then Velo is the coffee shop for you. There’s a few parking spaces in front of the shop and parking is free along the street near the shop.
Conclusion
The coffee culture of Chattanooga is already large and continues to grow. This is just a taste of some of the best Chattanooga coffee shops. It doesn’t matter if you’re a lover of sweetly flavored coffee drinks or prefer a locally roasted americano. Chattanooga offers a variety of coffee shops that covers both ends of the spectrum and everything in between.
